Welcome to Lark Street Mercantile, a vendor based retail store in the beautiful, historic Center Square neighborhood of Albany, NY.
Our store features over 25 local artists and makers, creating an eclectic mix of home, fashion, art and food goods.
Our mission is to offer an inclusive, supportive venue for small batch makers and artists to sell their products locally, creating opportunity for them to learn and grow their business and contribute to the growth of the community.
Originally from Iowa, Tamara studied Fashion Merchandising & Design and French at Iowa State University. After several years of working as a tailor and honing her sewing skills, she made her way to Denver, CO and enjoyed a 12 year career in footwear product development. She then made the trek across the country to the east and now calls Upstate New York home. She resides in Troy, NY with her husband in their 100 year old converted church home, where she creates her sewn designs for her brand, Jovilla White.
Tamara became owner of the Merc in August 2021, after working alongside the previous owners/founders of the store since it's opening in March 2020. She continues to be inspired everyday by the local artists and makers who fill the Merc's space, as well as by the community of locals and visitors who stop in to shop small.
